Numbers and official sources

Benefit amounts, tax figures and rules come from official Canadian sources, such as canada.ca, the Canada Revenue Agency, gov.bc.ca and Statistics Canada. Each guide links the exact page for each figure and lists its sources with the date they were checked.

Amounts and dates can change after a guide was last reviewed. If a guide and an official source disagree, go with the official source.

Tax information

Guides about side income, small businesses and tax add this line to their box: this is general information from CRA and B.C. government publications, not tax advice. For your situation, contact the CRA or a qualified tax professional.

Pet health

Where a guide mentions pet health, it isn’t veterinary advice. Ask your vet about your pet’s needs.

Spending Mindfully is a private Facebook group Darcie started for Canadians to help each other be mindful of their spending. Like this site, it is general education, not financial advice. What’s shared in the group stays in the group, so this site never quotes posts or members from it.
